Adele (2) - Week of November 12, 2011

Aaaaaaaaaand………..finally some new stuff that isn't mediocre!  Though this countdown still definitely has its share of problems.  Before we get on to this week's Fresh 45, here's a list of all the songs we're saying good-bye to this week.

  • O.A.R. - Heaven
  • Andy Grammer - Keep Your Head Up (DTHNOBx2)
  • Demi Lovato - Skyscraper
  • Aloe Blacc - I Need a Dollar

The Countdown: (source: Wikipedia)

Biggest DDDDDRRROOOOPPPP!!!!!!!!.....of the week: Bad Meets Evil Ft. Bruno Mars - Lighters (-24)
Biggest Jump of the Week: Nicki Minaj - Super Bass (+31)

While we mourn the loss of Demi Lovato - Skyscraper, there has finally been an infusion of some good songs that can really help save the quality of the countdown.  First off is a farewell tour from JTX - Love In America.  Unfortunately, due to the current state of things, this is currently my most wutchuwanted song on the countdown.  Next up comes Matt & Kim Ft. Soulja Boy - I'm a Goner, a pretty solid song, and re: Soulja Boy, it was one of those "oh….so THAT's what he's up to these days" moments.  Snoop Dogg Ft. Wiz Khalifa - Young, Wild & Free is one of the best rap songs, Non-Eminem Dept. to come out in the past few years.  It is a VERY welcome addition to the countdown.  And finally, Bruno Mars - It Will Rain predictably jumped in, though surprisingly as high as #25.  It has some decent instrumentals, but like much of his music, I will soon be referring to it as "that stupid Bruno Mars song".

I've reconsidered and decided that Criminal is the best song Britney Spears has put out there since If U Seek Amy.  Not saying a ton, but it's something.  There's a few first-timers in the top 10 this week (Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All, Hot Chelle Rae - I Like It Like That, and Dev - In the Dark), and absolutely none of them really deserve it.  Hot Chelle Rae in particular showed after their follow-up to Tonight Tonight that they're one-trick ponies that come up with some weird lyrics that are essentially valueless and sing them in a somewhat catchy fashion.  And I have no idea why anyone likes Dev - In the Dark.  It reminds me of Far East Movement - Like a G6 in a lot of ways….a song that would be mediocre to listen to in a club, and simply not good to listen to on the radio.

The Script is at #3 folks, let's keep those wutchuwants coming!
